About

An operator who defines the product, then sells it.

Say it PAT-en-chur, like patent.

The operator

A career spent selling this technology.

Patenture is led by Mike Dayton: 25 years leading go-to-market for B2B software and hardware as a CRO and GTM leader, across identity and hardware security, payments and fraud, financial applications, and secure messaging and integration. Along the way he pitched employers' patent portfolios to strategic acquirers and licensees, including wireless LAN technology before Wi-Fi was a standard and a secure email and file-attachment portfolio. He founded, bootstrapped, and sold a company of his own.

When a company holds a granted patent and has no chief product officer, he defines the product from the patent: the product family and its components mapped to the claims, the form factor where it is hardware, the pitch, and the deck. He did that for a hardware security patent, and the company's executives took the result to investors and partners.

The company he founded, bootstrapped, and sold was the same exercise from the other side: a product defined from nothing, a market found for it, and a buyer who paid for both.

The network

The people who would buy it, license it, or certify it.

Every engagement draws on global OEM, channel, and thought-leadership relationships in identity, security, payments, and secure messaging, built over 25 years of selling with and through them; prosecution counsel relationships for the claim questions; specialist partners for renders and regulatory gates; and accelerator and transition-program relationships.
