For counsel
Your clients ask you commercial questions. This is who to send them to.
Patenture does the commercial work around a granted patent: what the product is, who would pay, which licensees fit, and how to get into the room. It does none of the legal work, and it never asserts.
When to refer
Four situations where a client needs the commercial answer.
A granted patent with no commercial answer
The client can say what the claims cover and cannot say who pays, what for, or how to reach them. The Claim to Market Read answers that in writing, and the Patent to Product Read comes first when nobody outside engineering can explain what the product is.
A continuation in drafting
The claims that would unlock the best market never get drafted unless someone asks for them. The Read produces the questions for counsel before the continuation is filed, so the commercial decision gets made while it is still cheap.
An operating company whose claims reach fields it will not sell into
The product practices part of the claims. The rest can be licensed into markets the company will never enter, screened against its own customers, partners, and existing licenses first. That is the Licensing Reach Read.
An inventor or divesting company below a broker's threshold
The owner knows who needs the patent and a broker will not take it. The Mandate Review tests the thesis in about a week, and the mandate packages the patent and runs it to a term sheet with counsel closing.
What Patenture never does
The lines that keep the referral clean.
- No claim construction. The claim explainer is commercial analysis and says so on every page.
- No validity opinions, and nothing that reads like one.
- No assertion. Patenture never runs or recommends an assertion campaign.
- No fee share with counsel in either direction. A referral is a referral.
- No drafting. Counsel drafts and closes every license and sale.
Patenture is not a law firm. The claim explainer and the counsel question list are commercial analysis; claim construction, validity, and prosecution strategy stay with your patent counsel, whose access is a condition of the engagement.
The data-handling annex
You can read it before your client sends anything.
Every engagement starts with a mutual NDA and a written data-handling annex: what we receive, where it is kept, who sees it, and the deletion certificate you receive at close. Counsel can review the annex before intake.
Intake starts with a public description and the patent number. Claim language, unfiled variants, and anything confidential wait for the signed NDA and annex. Your access is a condition of the engagement, and the counsel question list is addressed to you.
How we get paid
Every read is a fixed fee, quoted before we start. Programs are scoped per engagement. Where Patenture brings the licensee or partner, part of the fee can ride on the revenue that relationship produces.

How to refer
An email or a call. Nothing else is needed.
Write to info@patenture.com with the patent number and a sentence on the situation, or book a short call and bring the client in when it fits. Clients who come on their own can choose Referred by counsel on the contact form. You hear back from Mike Dayton, not a team.
